Project descripÂtion
No archiÂtecÂturÂal task has underÂgone such radÂiÂcal changes throughÂout the past centu¬ries as church archiÂtecÂture. Builders of forÂmer periÂods have had traÂdiÂtion, the sigÂnifÂiÂcance of their herÂitage as their startÂing point, and they folÂlowed hisÂtoric styles. ConÂtemÂpoÂrary archiÂtecÂture ambiÂtions simÂplicÂiÂty, ratioÂnal and clear inteÂriÂors and forms. The LutherÂan church in PestÂszentlÅ‘rinc, which is being built now, is not a luxÂuÂriÂous one: it does not attract at¬tention with its unique forms, or uninÂterÂestÂing superÂfluÂous decÂoÂraÂtions, but rather with the simÂple archiÂtecÂturÂal forÂmaÂtion of the liturÂgiÂcal funcÂtions. The venue where peoÂple can get to know their own depths, their real nature, get in touch with God and their human felÂlows, and with the help of arts expeÂriÂence harÂmoÂny with the world surÂroundÂing them. Its exteÂriÂor and clear mass forÂmaÂtion, the homogeÂnous facade show that it is down to earth, and yet ambi¬tions to reach for the skies. It shows the pres¬ence of powÂers withÂin that have the capacÂiÂty to carÂry away everyÂone. Once, when we all of a sudÂden can feel both the enerÂgy of prayer in the everyÂday life of our earthÂly exisÂtence and the tranÂscenÂdenÂtal expeÂriÂence of community.
