Sta Cruz Chapel.
Jojut­la, México.
After the dev­as­tat­ing earth­quake of Sep­tem­ber 2017, all the colo­nial her­itage of Jojut­la was severe­ly dam­aged or lost.
We had the chance to design and built a lit­tle chapel were anoth­er was gone, and decid­ed to recre­ate with mod­ern con­struc­tion tech­niques, a rem­i­nis­cence from the past.
An anchor for the peo­ple of this town, to their tra­di­tions and heritage.

A place to pause,
step in,
and stop

to find a corner
for a sacred
thought

a cross­road
where the light and silence
meet

and feel how wonder
‑in its stillness-
