Project descripÂtion
The project is locatÂed on a farm near the city of MocoÂca, 250km from the city of São Paulo in Brazil. We were asked to renÂoÂvate a chapel that had been unused for a while and thereÂfore needÂed to be reacÂtiÂvatÂed for the reliÂgious ritÂuÂals of resÂiÂdents and workÂers in the region.
LocatÂed on a plateau in the very cenÂter of the terÂriÂtoÂry, the volÂume of pre-exisÂÂtence that stands out in the landÂscape is crossed by a sinÂgle main door and a few windows.
StartÂing from the most varÂied paths that give access to the church, in the interÂvenÂtion, when we demolÂished the transepts and transÂformed them into large winÂÂdow-doors, the chapel becomes part of the crossÂings paths and presents itself as a place of encounter in the landÂscape, that is, a reliÂgious space .
