Project description

Yangsan Church, established in April 1906, reflects its historical roots, having been founded by an Australian missionary over a century ago. The design of the church formally symbolizes two hands expressing a confession of faith. The soft curves, which appear to warmly embrace, are intended to provide comfort to people.
To address the challenge posed by an overpass adjacent to the church site, the design incorporates the city’s flow into the church. The movement path from the first floor to the fourth floor facilitates communication between the interior and exterior spaces. Additionally, sacred light is introduced through a wall designed to draw it in, illuminating both the church and the surrounding community.
